AID

requiredforthis procedur e.
NOTE:Invacar erecommendsthattwoassistantsbeusedforall
liftingpreparation
andtransferringto/fro mprocedures;however,our
equipmentwillpermitpr operoperationbyoneassistant.Theuseof
oneassistantisbasedontheevaluationofthehealthcareprofessional
foreach individualcase.
Standing Procedure
1. Ensurethatthepatientiscapableofw alking.
2. Foldthefootplatetowardthemast.
3. Usetheadjustmentpinstomovethekneepadtoa
comfortableposition.
4. Ensurethatthepatientisinasittingpositio ntobeginthe
procedure.
A. Ifthepatientisinbedandrequiresassistancetocome
toasitting
position, raisethebackofthebed.
B. Placetheliftoverthebedwiththeliftarmsangled
tow ardthepatient.
C. Instructthepatienttograsptheliftarms.
D. Astheliftarmsareraised,the patientshouldmove
legstothesideofthebeduntilasittingpositiononthe
sideofthebedisassumed.
NOTE:Thecaregivers shouldassistasneeded.
E. Pulltheliftaw ayasneeded toaccommo datethe
patient’sfeetandlegsoverthesideofthebed.
5. Withonecaregiveroneachsideofthepatient,placeagait
beltonthepatient.
6. Ensurethatthepatient
iswearingshoeswi thskidproof
soles.
7. Ifthepatientisonthebed,raisethebed(ifpossible)while
ensuringthatthepatient’sfeetremainon thefloor.
8. Ifawalkeristobeused,placethewalkerinfrontofthe
patient.
9. Adv ancethelifttow ardthepatientsothat
thepatientcan
easilyreachtheliftarms.
10. Instructthepatienttograsp theliftarms.
11. Ensurethatthepatient’sfeetaredirectlyunderthem.
12. Beginraising theliftarms.
13. Onacountofthree,instructthepatienttopulland
standupwhilethecaregivers supportwiththegaitbelt.
WARNING
DO NOT lift the patient.
14. Removethelifttoallowthe patientto walk.
